This project was a custom piece of furniture the customer wanted to match the rest of the room's decor. They already had a design and wood in mind; I made a few tiny tweaks and created a 3D model so they could see how it'd look. They loved it.
The piece was made out of 1.25" solid walnut, plained down and finished to 1" thick. I routed the edges with a slight bevel to be more comfortable on the wrists when playing.
The inside was lined with felt to quiet rattling from cords or sheet music.
The customer had special legs on order from London to match other furniture. To make shipping a bit easier, they opted to install the legs themselves.
The stand took about two weeks to build, and then an additional two weeks to finish, sand, finish, sand, finish, sand, wax, pack, and ship to Atlanta, GA :-).
